International Medical Corps is a
global, humanitarian, nonprofit

Established in 1984 by volunteer
doctors and nurses, International
Medical Corps is a private,
voluntary, nonpolitical nonsectarian organization.

Its mission is to improve the quality of life through
health interventions and related
activities that build local capacity
in underserved communities
worldwide. By offering training and
health care to local populations and
medical assistance to people at
highest risk, and with the flexibility
to respond rapidly to emergency
situations, International Medical
Corps rehabilitates devastated
health care systems and helps bring
them back to self-reliance.
PROGRAM BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps is
currently implementing
approximately 15 programs across
nine sites in South Sudan. Through
nearly 50 health facilities in urban
and rural areas, International
Medical Corps provides basic health
care and integrated service
provision, from preventative care to
emergency surgery. International
Medical Corps also runs programs in
HIV/AIDS, nutrition, food security,
and water and sanitation projects.
To address South Sudan’s acute
health worker shortage, and foster
self-reliance, International Medical
Corps trains health professionals
and community volunteers.
Simultaneously, International
Medical Corps is in the process of
increasing its surge capacity and
ramping up programming in order
to respond to the countrywide
emergency humanitarian needs
emerging from the conflict erupted
in December 2013.
JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Coordinator is
responsible for managing and
supervising the departments or
sections of general administration,
logistics and procurement. The
portfolio includes procurement of
approximately 0.5m US$ worth
materials and inputs for the
program in a year, management of a
fleet 15+ vehicles dispersed in 5
States, care and maintenance of 10+
facilities, management and control
of a large inventory including
oversight to warehouses and
management of communication
equipment in 9 locations including
Juba. The position will also be
involved in providing extensive
support to emergency response that
the country mission is mounting
across 4 States. Special aptitude in
solving problems, paying attention
to details, staying on top of
everything and commitment to
building capacity of national staff
are pre-requisite for success in this
fast-moving, complex and dynamic
position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage mission Supply Chain and
ensure implementation of
International Medical Corps
procurement and logistics policies &
procedures while observing
respective donor regulations and
local law.
- Ensure continued support to
building capacity of national
logistics team. Train local staff for
independent work and use available
opportunities to develop staff
capacity.
- Perform site visits, document site
logistics evaluation, and implement
corrective measures as appropriate.
- Manage local and international
procurement, in line with
International Medical Corps and
donor procedures and local law.
- Ensure adequate management of
transport for staff and commodities
in a most cost and time efficient
manner, taking into consideration
safety and security as well as access
related issues.
- Ensure that stocks and assets
inventory are recorded accurately
and managed with high level of
accountability.
- Ensure adequate equipment
maintenance, given the specific
circumstances at operational sites.
- Coordinate with local officials on
local customs clearing, laws and
procedures.
- Supervise overall stock
distribution tracking (for purchased
and donated stocks up to
distribution points), provide
logistics support to program team
related to distribution.
- Ensuring mandatory reporting to
in-country management team and
HQ logistics team.
- Organize internal control spot
checks of all field logisticians’
activities and implement corrective
actions as required in coordination
with country management team.
- Coordinating import process for
goods coming from abroad.
- Manage mission compliance with
US Export Regulations.
- Ensure all GIK administration &
asset tracking verification is
updated monthly by responsible
staff.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of
work experience (minimum 3 years
in developing country) in Logistics
Coordinator position with an
international NGO within Africa.
- Able to maintain cool under
stressful conditions
- Familiarity with program budget
development and management
procedures
- Resourcefulness in meeting
program demands without
compromising with the compliance
requirements
- Ability to read, analyze and
interpret administrative reports,
technical procedures, and
governmental regulations.
- Able to work as part of a large
team with excellent inter-personnel
skills
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural
setting.
- Ability to write reports, and
procedure manuals; ability to
effectively present information and
respond to questions from country
managers, counterparts, government
officials and International Medical
Corps HQ colleagues.
- Fluency in English - both oral and
written skills.
- High level of computer literacy
- Excellent mentoring skills
- Ability to conduct formal logistics
training
- Ability to live and work with basic
facilities and under hardship
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED/
PREFERRED
- Previous experience in South
Sudan preferred.
- Knowledge of logistics
management of health NGO
- Experiences of working with IMC
